WHAT DO YOU THINK?
"For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard" (Acts 22:15).
Oftentimes, an opportunity presents itself where you can leave someone with a big impact as to who you are as a Bible enthusiast who follows the teachings of Messiah Yeshua. We’re quite sure that you have had your personal story where you excelled in witnessing Messiah Yeshua. We would all love to read your comments! Thus, this blog is not about discussing who’s right or wrong; rather, it’s about how you have approached this situation and how you were able to overcome those obstacles.
Young, confident and true, that’s how Matthew perceives himself as a genuine Charismatic believer. Matthew has never encountered a Bible enthusiast who follows the teachings of Messiah Yeshua such as yourself; however, if you were to ask Matthew what his thoughts were on obeying Elohim’s commandments (e.g., the Sabbath, Dietary Restrictions and embracing the Judeocentric culture that the Bible represents), Matthew would feel odd that you would even ask such questions! In fact, your visit to his local congregation would only make him feel privileged, because he reasons that your presence contributes further to his ideals of what a true follower of Messiah’s teachings may be. If anything, Matthew would ask a thousand and one questions as to what you, the Bible enthusiast, believe that would contribute to his current stance as a Charismatic believer; however, once he realizes that you’re Torah Observant, he will present a defensive guard against anything that you may present him.
As a result, we find it necessary to share with you how you can be an effectual witness of Messiah Yeshua.
Matthew spends most of his time worrying about being more and more spiritual. Other than his secular life where he attends school and goes to work to live life, Matthew spends much of his time worrying about what he thinks are spiritual matters. These spiritual matters that overwhelm Matthew include but are not limited to praying, fasting and studying the Bible. In his spare time, he listens to music that gives him that sense of identity to what he reasons to be a true believer. He is so inundated with trying to be spiritual, the last thing that is on his mind is, “Am I living in accordance to the guidelines set forth in the Word?”
Though Matthew may never admit this to you, but he too has his own personal anxieties.“What if Jesus comes and I’m entertaining the wrong thought, will I go to heaven? I’m a faithful tithe and offering giver, a good steward of G-d’s household; however, I really haven’t been preaching the gospel
message as I should. Will I be held accountable for such disobedience, or will G-d simply open up the doors so that I can teach or preach? Man, I just want G-d to use me as his chosen vessel; I just don’t know how or when!”
As often as he contemplates these spiritual matters, he’s simply looking for an opportunity to prove himself to G-d that he’s a true, genuine believer. Then, you show up at his local church as he wonders, “Man, I wonder what he believes. Here’s a Jew who follows Jesus! I wonder what spiritual insights this Messianic Jew may have to share with me that would make me feel that much closer to G-d.”
So, he walks up to you and say, “G-d Bless you! My name is Matthew. It’s a pleasure to meet you! What's your name? What’s your personal testimony? How did you come to faith?”
How would you respond to Matthew? What three positive points would you share with him so that he would take a second look at Messiah? How have you had handle this scenerio in times past?
PLEASE be sure to leave your remarks on the comment section of this blog. We look forward to reading your responses.
