Is Messiah coming or is he returning? It is often said, “I believe that Messiah is returning. However, because the Jews never really believed that Messiah came in the first place, then he will come for the Jews.” Messianic Jews find this statement both unbiblical and rather insulting. Those who have this attitude truly do not have a clue as to what the Scriptures say! Fortunately, the only way that any of us could ever agree as to whether or not Messiah is coming or returning is by referencing the Scriptures.
So, let’s review a couple of verses and see if Messiah is coming or if he’s returning.
So, what do Messianic Jews say? Do we say that he’s coming? Or, do we say that he’s returning? Well, the Bible is quite clear to mention that Messiah is coming. As a result, Messianic Jews say, "Messiah is coming."
"Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen!" (Revelations 1:7)
